Finding Endurance

As I watched online church this past Sunday the pastor preached on the subject of endurance and the importance of having endurance in this season we all find ourselves in. Right now we find ourselves in difficult times, in hurting times, and as of right now if were being honest we do not know when this will all end, or when it does end will things ever be the same again. It is in these times that we need to press in, to endure, and to remember some of God’s promises.

When I looked up the word endurance in the dictionary the definition stated “the fact or power of enduring an unpleasant or difficult process or situation without giving way.” The first two words that stand out to me in the definition is unpleasantand difficult. It seems as though we cannot experience endurance unless faced with unpleasant, or difficulttimes and this makes sense because why would we need endurance unless we were having to endure a hard situation. It is easy to thrive in good times, but in hard times… that is a different story.

We all have people in our lives that have endured hard things, whether that be sickness, losing a loved one, or something else. We have had grandparent, great grandparents, and people that have gone before us who have experienced hardships and pandemics. You hear others often say that sometimes we need to look back at history to learn and I believe this is true. While we are living in trying times I believe it would be wise to read back on trying times in history, because maybe it will just give us a glimmer of hope that all things do come to an end, and yes that sometimes not everything is the same as it once was, sometimes it is even better than before. So let us choose to endure, to have hope, and to except the new changes and maybe realize that things are better off than they were before the hard times.
